Our Community Involvement
Carlye's big trip
This spring I have an exciting opportunity to serve in Malawi, Africa.
My church, Eastlake Community Church, has partnered with the nonprofit organization, Children of the Nations, who are already quite active in the Malawian setting.
COTN's mission is to raise children who transform nations. They began with a vision, to reach as many orphaned children in Africa as possible, by providing them with a quality education, shelter and love, and giving them a hope for a brighter future.
The number of orphans in Malawi is increasing due to poverty and disease, leaving many children left with no one to care for them, and no choice but to turn to the streets. COTN and Eastlake have teamed up to make a difference. It has been on my heart for over a year now to be a part of something bigger then myself, to put my resources to work, and to make an impact in the lives of others. I knew when this opportunity presented itself the only thing left to do was walk through my fear and go!
On this mission, my team and I will be spending time with the children at three different orphanage homes owned by COTN. While there, we will invest in the children through Bible studies, small group discussions, activities and games. We will teach, play with, and simply just love these children. We will also have the opportunity to help with a community outreach project, in an attempt to touch the lives of all the citizens of this great nation.
I am so excited for this opportunity to serve in Africa and to witness first-hand how God will work through me in order to touch the lives of so many others. I look forward to doing God's work in Africa this spring and letting you know all about the miracles I was a part of in June when I return!
